My Makeup Routine/Essentials :)

Hope everything is going well for you guys! Wanted to write some more posts before class starts next week 🙂

So you’re probably surprised to see a makeup subject line for my blog post haha. So yes, I’m finally writing a beauty post and this is my first one 🙂 I wanted to write about a different topic other than the usual awards/OOTD and all that so I’ll try my very best to make this post an entertaining one!

So today I will be talking about my makeup routine that I follow on a daily basis using my favorite beauty products! Unlike the others, my makeup routine is pretty simple since I only wear subtle makeup and I actually look good in a simple natural look 🙂 It just takes 5 minutes for a nice beauty look! My style is always simplicity with elegance and I try to follow that with my makeup, outfits, etc. 🙂 Let’s get started!

Cleanser/Moisturizer

I always start out the day with a cleanser, toner and moisturizer before applying my makeup. I been getting acne ever since a teenager which really sucks but till now I use Proactiv Acne Solution to cleanse and moisturize my skin. Even though people say its not good for the longer term, I believe that the product really helps with my acne and reduces the pimples and blackheads on my face. It leaves the skin more smooth and fresh. Still really like this acne solution even after using for 12 years!

Loose Finishing Powder

I always apply my loose finishing powder right after my apply my moisturizer. I was using the NYC Smooth Skin Finishing Powder and did like it but I felt that I wanted to go for a better one so I decided to change it to the NYX brand. I’m currently using the NYX Mineral “Set it & Don’t Fret it” Matte Finishing Powder and I actually really love it! I just applied a bit of powder throughout my face and looked so clean and smooth. It’ doesn’t even feel like you’re wearing any powder. I used the medium/dark shade. Even though I’m light in color, that shade actually matched perfectly with my skin tone. It gives you a flawless look and just a hint of powder gives you good coverage. Def recommend this 🙂

Next: I rarely use foundation/primer or anything else and don’t prefer to use them on a daily basis/when going out unless I’m going to like a party or family function.

Blush

I apply a light shade of blush right after I apply my powder. I feel that a blush would always go with simple look and give the face a bit more glow. I just feel more attractive if I apply blush to my face lol 🙂 I’ve been using the Maybelline FIT me blush (deep rose) color and I felt it was an ok product. I have to apply it to my cheekbones just to get a slight rose color out of it so didn’t like the light pigmentation. I’ve started using Revlon Ravishing Rose color and gives you a shimmering and rosy look on the cheeks. Really liking it so far. I’ve been reading blogs and I’ve heard the Milani blush is really good so def gonna give that try next 🙂

Next: I love wearing eyeshadow but I don’t use it unless going to parties or other lavish events. I also don’t wear eyeshadow much since I wear glasses and I feel that it doesn’t show up too much with glasses

Eyeliner

So the eyeliner I feel is the most important part of my makeup routine. I’m really particular about the type of eyeliner I use since eyeliner is what really accentuates my eyes, giving it more definition and attention. I only go for the black eyeliner and not interested in any other colors. I just get so bothered if I don’t have the proper and right eyeliner with me. I can go out without anything but eyeliner is def a must for me lol. I’ve tried many eyeliners and none of them I felt lasted long or kept smearing and smudging especially the Maybelline ones. It was pretty frustrating to find the right one that I suited my eyes. I finally found 2 that I love:

I’m currently using the Sephora Collection: 24 HR Intense Black Felt Liner Fine Line. It’s waterproof and just like it says, the tip is so thin that I am able to apply it to my lower and upper lid very smoothly. It’s waterproof, long lasting, and most importantly, doesn’t smear at all if you cry or rub your eyes. This is my favorite so far and would def recommend this!

 

The other one that I love is the Lancome ArtLiner black eyeliner. It’s kind of in between a liquid eyeliner and a normal eyeliner. It’s not really liquid either and it applies on the lids in the right amount and very smoothly as well! This really makes the eyes pop out and gives an attractive look to the face even for girls who wear glasses, like me 🙂 I’m a big fan of Lancome products and this is definitely one of them!

Mascara

Even though Mascara is one of my fave, just like the others, I don’t wear Mascara on a daily basis just to go to the mall or to hang out with friends. Only prefer it for parties and events. Another reason would be is that I already have long eyelashes and people think that I’ve applied mascara but I actually didn’t haha. I currently use Lancome Hypnose Drama and def really like it. It really volumizes my eyelashes making my eyes stand out. I would def recommend this as well but just be careful to just apply one coat since it does tend to clump a bit but overall a good one 🙂

 

Lipgloss/Lipstick

Ok so this is my last in my makeup routine and also one of the most important looks! I believe that the right brand & shade of lipstick or lip color and make a big difference in your appearance. Not only does it make you feel more beautiful, but it also increases self confident and self esteem in everyone. Have you heard quotes about lips and lipsticks?

“Beauty, to me, is about being comfortable in your own skin. That or a kick-ass lipstick” 

and much more!

When I wear lipstick, I feel very classy and elegant and makes me feel more confident about myself. No one can ever compete with you if you walk down that aisle by being yourself and wearing that kick ass lipstick, showing a beautiful smile!

1. Lipstick

I’m a big fan of Maybelline products especially their lip ones! I’ve tried their Color Sensational Cherry Red Lipstick and its amazing! I really love that perfect shade of red and its really long lasting. It doesn’t smear or come off anytime you rub it or eat something. It’s cheap and can get it at any drugstore. Here is my look with it:

I also tried the Color Sensational Matte Siren in Scarlet shade and also really liked that one as well! Def a great shade of a bold red color that makes your lips stand out 🙂

2. Lipgloss

I use lipgloss on a daily basis like when I go shopping or if I hangout with family/friends. I’ve recently tried Estee Lauder’s variety shades of lipgloss and thought it was really nice! A few of them didn’t show much color but really liked the magenta color shade! I will do a review of these lip glosses in my future beauty blog post 🙂

3. Lip Balm

I use lip balm everyday when I don’t have any makeup on. I apply it right before I go to bed to moisturize, soften my lips and to prevent dryness. I love the Eos lip balms. They really moisten my lips and gives a nice tropical scent to them. They also look so cute lol 🙂 The strawberry sorbet was my favorite but also liking the passion fruit one as well!

After applying and following this makeup routine, I always do a low ponytail or just leave my hair down for simple hairstyle, wear gold color hoop earrings, light scented perfume, sunglasses & voila, am ready to go with a cute look 🙂
